A WOMAN is being accused of emotionally abusing her former husband over a sewing machine.
The matter came to light during a Harare Civil Court hearing where Ottilia Kennedy is being accused of verbally abusing Moreblessing Mutero.
“The matter started when we divorced and my ex-wife started demanding that we should sell and share proceeds of an overlocking machine.
“She wants to possess the machine or share the proceeds yet she did not contribute anything when I purchased the machine.
“She is lying before the courts that she financially helped me purchase the machine. The only money she gave me was US$10 which I borrowed for transport because I had no money but I later gave her back,” Mutero said.
He added: “She uses explicit language to insult me, at one point his brother threatened me and I am living in fear, due to their misconduct,” said Mutero.
The two have been customarily married and divorced after their marriage went sour.
Kennedy, who denied the allegations, said she contributed to the purchase of the machine.
She said the two should use the machine together or else sell it to resolve the issue.
“I am not denying the granting of the order but since I helped him buy the machine, I want to use it as well or we should share the money,” she said.
Magistrate Sharon Mashavire advised the two to seek advice on how to share their matrimonial property, since they were customarily married.
Mutero was granted the protection order but ordered not to bar his ex-wife from accessing their working area.
