A KAMBUZUMA man and his friends allegedly gang raped a sex worker he had hired for the night after a drinking spree.
Tinotenda Siringwani appeared before Harare regional magistrate, Marewanazvo Gofa, yesterday.
The court heard that on September 4, Siringwani’s friend, Edmore Manyange, hired the sex worker, who is 29, while on a drinking spree at the City Sports Bar at the corner of Robert Mugabe and Kaguvi Street in Harare.
The woman charged him US$30 and they left for Glen Norah, where she stays, at around 10pm.
It is alleged that Siringwani’s other friends, who are at large, offered to transport the duo in their truck.
Manyange was driving the vehicle and, as they approached the Kopje area, he stopped the car.
His accomplice produced a bennet knife and threatened to kill the sex worker in the event she made any noise.
The three men allegedly took turns raping the woman.
They then drove to a service station and forced her to board a car whose registration number was ACI 1181.
They stole her bag, which had US$60 in cash, and a cell phone worth US$120
The crew in the other car dumped the woman along Rotten Row Road.
The woman was assisted by security guards who escorted her to the police.
