A SECURITY guard is in trouble after he failed to explain where he had acquired a firearm he was found in possession of.

Norman Muzeya, who is employed by Snake Bite Security Company, was not asked to plead when he appeared before Harare magistrate Dennis Mangosi.

He was remanded in custody and will be back in court today.

Detectives from CID Homicide received a tip-off that Muzeya was in possession of an unlicensed firearm at Number 82 Piers Road, Borrowdale.

The detectives went to the given address where they arrested Muzeya.

He was interviewed and this led to the recovery of an Escort Magnum shotgun, serial number 424370, hidden under a heap of tree leaves in the yard.

Investigations carried out revealed that Snake Bite Security Company, who employed him, was not the owner of the recovered firearm.

Muzeya does not have any licence to have a firearm.
