BELEAGUERED Premiership side Shabanie Mine are struggling to hold onto key personnel ahead of the resumption of the campaign this weekend with at least nine players having notified the club of their intention to leave. The financially-troubled club have been struggling to meet their fiscal obligations and at least, nine first team players are likely to leave the club ahead of the second half of the season.
Former coach Takesure Chiragwi assembled the squad without a lot of financial backing and after his resignation, he left a number of players questioning their future.
Club chairman Tavaziva Mhloro last night confirmed that his club have been put in a spot of bother by the requests for clearance from their first team players.
“We are in a very difficult position going into the second half of the season, nine players have requested their clearances and they want to leave this month,” said Mhloro.
“If all the nine leave we will be in a tight corner, remember we can only replace five in mid-season and we also have two slots for junior players.
“If the players say they want to leave, there is no way we can hold on to them as we want someone who is willing to play for us.
“So we are working on addressing that situation, there are other players who want to be part of us and the coaches will decide.”
The nine want-away players are Carlos Rusere, Petros Moyo, Joe Nyabinde, Ali Maliselo, Tinashe Mupumha, Kibaki Dhlamini, Tinashe Chigede, David Temwanjira and Washington Kahuni.
