STRIKER Pervington Zimunya grabbed a memorable brace as Shabanie Mine continued to push for a top eight finish with a victory over Triangle in a Castle Lager Premiership match at Maglas yesterday.

After the victory Shabanie Mine fans had reason to celebrate as chances are brighter that the miners will be playing in the top flight next year.

Shabanie have had an indifferent season in which they won the BancABC Sup8r after beating town rivals FC Platinum at Mandava while they drew with Dynamos in a mid-week clash.

Zimunya, who created the goal against Dynamos, took matters into his own hands when he thrust his side into the lead after 21st minute.
The former Masvingo United skipper haunted Triangle when he scored from the penalty spot in the 41st minute of a match played in scorching heat.

Shabanie now occupy the eighth position with 40 points from 29 matches.

After the breather Zimunya, who was a thorn in the flesh, could have grabbed a hattrick when he did justice to a cross by Valentine

Ndaba from the right  but his header was blocked by Ashley Rayners and the Triangle defence cleared the danger.

Triangle’s realistic chance of coming back into the game was in the 88th minute when goalkeeper Victor Twaliki made a double save.
“I am happy that Highlanders lost 4-0 to Harare City because we could have beaten them and I am happy that God quickly answered our prayers.

“They will never win the league this year and I am tipping Dynamos and if they fail Harare City will lift the honours,” said Gishon Ntini the Triangle coach.

Masomere was happy with the outcome of yesterday’s match.

Meanwhile, Bufalloes’ second half substitute Roy Mwinga rose from the bench to score the solitary goal that gave his team the much needed maximum points against relegated Monomotapa at Sakubva Stadium yesterday.

After a promising start to the season, in which they were initially aiming for a top six finish, things fell apart for the Mutare soldiers along the way and yesterday’s victory came after going for eight rounds of league matches without a win.
