Shamu consoles Zhou family

death of Cde Elisha Muchemi Zhou at the weekend. He was 61.
Cde Zhou, who was the District Education Officer for Chegutu, died on Sunday after a long battle with prostrate cancer.
In a statement, Cde Shamu described Cde Zhou as a professional cadre dedicated to uplifting the country’s educational standards.
“Cde Zhou was among a rare breed of education officers who were committed to the achievement of high education standards in the country’s schools. He presided over the introduction of effective organisational and communication structures in schools throughout the constituency and the entire district,” he said.
Cde Shamu said at the time of his death, Cde Zhou was working on the introduction and registration of the Chegutu District Magazine, an annual publication aimed at publicising educational activities in the district.
“I convey my deepest sympathies to the Zhou family, the education sector and the country at large for this tragic blow. Let us honour him by continuing to strive for excellence in discharging our duties in the education sector,” he said.
A holder of a Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree with the University College of the then Rhodesia, Cde Zhou worked in various schools around the country.
He is survived by his wife and four children.
