a group of women from Shamva have decided to join their compatriots like Mai Red Rose and Mai Jojo in that realm.
The seven women from Shamva have teamed up to form Big Mothers Promotions in a bid to create employment and also improve entertainment in the mining town of Shamva.
The newly established promotion group has received a major boost from Mafaro Promotions led by Joseph Kufandiko, who organised the Independence Gala held at Wadzanai Gardens in Shamva recently.
“We are proud to help these women and more than willing to take them far as long as they are committed and we think they are going to do their best,” said Kufandiko.
Big Mothers is made up of Jokonya Muronzi, who is the organiser and deputised by one Mushamiri while Handina Muropa is a committee member.
Big Mothers will this Friday host musicians Leonard Zhakata and Jah Prayzah at Wadzanai Gardens in their inaugural show.
Established and upcoming dance groups will also have a chance to showcase their talents while various other activities have been lined up to entertain patrons.
These include eating competitions, among others.
Zhakata is expected to top the bill at an all- night gig where he is expected to churn out both his old and new songs like “Maruva Enyika”, “Mugove” and those from his latest album “Gotwe – Last Born.”
Jah Prayzah, on the other hand, is steadily rising on the music scene and his songs are doing well on the airwaves.
