SHAMWARI Yemwanasikana, a community-based group, is seeking assistance to boost its reusable sanitary pads project in Chihota.

The project is aimed at addressing the hygienic needs of young married women as well as girls who are in need of sanitary wear.

The organisation is seeking donations, including sewing machines, scissors, tape measures, waterproof material and fasteners.

The project will help the young mothers and girls generate income to meet their basic needs and pay for their children’s school fees. Shamwari Yemwanasikana seeks to empower women by educating them on their rights and fostering a sustainable livelihood for them.

Shamwari Yemwanasikana communications and advocacy officer, Tendai Hove, said that the donations can be dropped at their offices at 193 Dhliwayo Road, Unit F, Seke, Chitungwiza. “This project is to help young mothers and girls to pay for their own needs and even pay school fees,” she said.
