adminKOLKATA. — Rohit Sharma and Ravichandran Ashwin put on 198 runs for the seventh wicket to give India a 120-run lead over the West Indies at stumps on the second day of the first test in Kolkata yesterday.
The hosts completely outplayed the Windies, as they added 234 for the loss of one wicket in the second and third sessions, to end the day on 354 for six at Eden Gardens. Sharma scored a maiden test century to finish unbeaten on 127, while Ashwin still had his wicket intact with 92 to his name.
Sharma has had to wait 108 one-day internationals to don the white clothing for India, and made it count as he hit 16 fours and a six in his innings. Ashwin is just eight runs shy of what will be his second test century. — SuperSport.com.
