AFRO-POP sensation Ashleigh Moyo, known professionally as Shashl, believes she is evolving with each passing year.

The “Ghetto Buddies” hit-maker will showcase her journey of self-discovery, growth and identity on June 21 when she unveils her second album, titled “The First Quarter,” at the 7 Arts Theatre in Avondale, Harare.

She noted that “The First Quarter” is more than just an album as it represents a story of transition, self-discovery and powerful reinvention.

“This album means the world to me. It’s the most honest I have ever been with my music, and I can’t wait to share it with everyone who’s been part of this journey,” Shashl shared in a statement.  She promised fans an intimate evening filled with live performances of new tracks, emotional storytelling, and a few surprises.

“Preparations are well underway — we have finalised the tracklist, rehearsals for the live launch are ongoing, and the creative direction for the stage production has been locked in.

“‘It’s all coming together beautifully, and I’m excited to share this next chapter with my fans,” said Shashl.

“I will be sharing the official tracklist soon but I can confirm it features a blend of soulful Afro-fusion sounds with heartfelt storytelling.

“I have had the privilege of working with some incredibly talented producers who helped bring my vision to life with their distinctive sonic touch.”

Shashl took the opportunity to address the themes she explores in this album, which she believes is rich in both texture and appeal.

“The First Quarter is a reflection of growth, identity, and self-discovery. The themes revolve around love, purpose, vulnerability, resilience, and embracing the beauty in change.

“It’s a deeply personal project that also speaks to a collective experience—especially for women finding their voice.”

Determined to deliver a product of superior quality, Shashl assured fans that “The First Quarter” was created over an extended period.

“This album took just over a year to complete. What sets it apart is how intentional every part of the process has been — from songwriting to production to visual direction.

“It’s rawer, more mature, and emotionally honest than anything I’ve done before,” she said.

“The 7 Arts Theatre offers the perfect balance between elegance and intimacy.

“It’s a venue that allows for both powerful performances and real connections with the audience. I wanted the space to reflect the tone of the album — bold, beautiful, and personal.”

Shashl has vowed to maintain her momentum by working hard to touch the hearts of millions.

“I will do so by staying rooted in my purpose and evolving with every season.

“I believe consistency, curiosity and authenticity are key. I’m always learning, always creating, and surrounding myself with a team that believes in the vision.

“That’s how the fire stays alive.”

She credits her management team for organising regional and international tours.

“We are currently finalising details for a regional tour, starting with shows. Internationally, I’m in talks for a few appearances later this year — I’ll be announcing dates soon.”

She has one album titled “Highway,” two EPs—“Butterflies” and “Solitude”—and over 13 singles. Some of her notable singles include “Deepisa,” “Nemoyo,” “Ghetto Buddies,” and “Remedy.”

Shashl’s upcoming album not only highlights her evolution but also her consistency in the game.
