Zimbabwe has taken its international charm offensive to Europe at the ongoing third Turkey-Africa Partnership Summit, where a number of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) are set to be discussed.
Foreign Affairs and International Trade Minister Ambassador Frederick Shava met his Turkish counterpart, Mr Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, for a discussion on several bilateral exchanges.
The summit is running under the theme, “Enhanced partnership for common development and prosperity”, which augurs well with Zimbabwe’s development aspirations under Vision 2030 of an empowered and prosperous upper middle income society.
“Dear colleague, as I departed Harare for Turkey, my focus was on building a firm bridge for our two peoples so that we can enhance already existing relations between our two countries,” said Ambassador Shava while addressing his counterpart.
“I am glad that there is progress in our bilateral relations as witnessed by the recent conclusion of two MoUs this year (for collaboration in the rail sector). It is my fervent hope that this positive development can extend to other sectors through conclusion and ratification of all outstanding agreements and MoUs such as avoidance of double taxation, land swap for building diplomatic premises, cooperation in tourism, agriculture, mining, defence just to mention a few.”
Ambassador Shava said the MoU on mutual abolition of visas for holders of diplomatic and service passports will facilitate greater movement of officials as the two countries work to facilitate greater cooperation between them.
