‘She is way out of your league’

person and we get along just fine.
But I have discovered that she drinks and smokes. A friend of mine told me and when I asked her she admitted it though she had never told me about it.
No one in my family drinks or smokes and I have always believed that the two habits are not good. I always thought that people who do that are bad, but this girl is a decent person.
So now I am not sure what do about the relationship? Should I continue with it or should I drop her and find a girl who does not smoke or drink?

This is really sad. You need to find out why she smokes and drinks and try to convince her to stop the two habits. This has nothing to do with her being bad or decent but it is for her own health. The two habits are not good health wise but it is worse when you are so young. You did not say how old she is but I am assuming that she is a teen as well. So please do not dump her but just help her to get over the problems.

If the girl is a decent person and you get along well then what is your problem? She is not pressurising you into smoking or drinking. Just enjoy the ride and see where it takes you. I do not think you should break up with her just because of this. There are many girls who do not smoke or drink who are promiscuous and very naughty. You may end up with one of those. So what is better, a decent girl who smokes or drinks or a naughty one who does not?

You cannot have it both ways. If she smokes and drinks she cannot be a decent girl no matter how nice she is. Get out of this relationship immediately and leave her to find a guy who is also into those things. The question you should be asking is where does she drink and with who? What does she do when she is drunk? And why did she not tell you about the habits before you had to find out from a friend? I think this girl just pretends to be someone when she is with you but she has another life that you know nothing about.

It looks like you are out of your league here. Smoking and drinking are personal choices and they may not necessarily mean that one is a bad person, but in a teenager surely they are not a good sign. I would say that you really need to get to know this girl better before you can make a decision about this relationship. I think there is more to her story than you know. Meanwhile, play it cool and do not get too committed until you know just what is going on here.
