SHE LEFT HER BABY TO DIE IN A BUSH! Teen mom in court for dumping one-week-old baby

A 19-YEAR-OLD teen mom who dumped her baby after she was discharged from Plumtree District Hospital, has appeared before Plumtree magistrate Blessings Tsingano, facing charges of exposing an infant as defined in section 108 of the criminal (codification and reform) act chapter 2.3.

Nothabo Ndlovu, gave birth on 23 august 2025 at Plumtree District Hospital and was discharged from the Hospital on 4 September 2025 after a normal delivery process.

According to court documents, on 4 September 2025 at around 6 pm, she dumped her baby in a bushy area along Sevaka Road near ZIMRA flats in Plumtree. The baby was found the following day at around 11 am by a passer-by who reported the matter to the police.

The baby was taken to Plumtree District Hospital for safety and care where he was admitted. Investigations led to the arrest of the accused who admitted to the act and positively identified the baby as hers at Plumtree District Hospital.

She was remanded in custody to 10 September 2025, Ruth Ncube prosecuted.
