A HARARE man told the court that his former wife thinks he is a rich man, while he is no longer working.
Musa Rupaso appeared before magistrate Ayanda Dhlamini after his ex-wife, Thandiwe Chipanga, demanded an upward variation to $50 000.
Thandiwe told the court that Musa’s salary was increased and she wanted him to man up to his responsibilities.
Magistrate Dhlamini ordered Musa to pay $50 000 maintenance per month.
“I want to start going to work and l need money for day care since his salary has increased.
“He works at a mine, but he’s in arrears and our one-year-old daughter needs special care since she is still young,” she said.
Musa offered to continue paying $30 000 which he was paying all along saying his contract was terminated.
“She thinks I am rich, but little does she know l no longer work.
“l am even struggling to pay the $30 000 like she said l am in arrears.
“It will be fair if we split the responsibilities since we are both parents and l have another family to take care of,” he said.
