A BUDIRIRO woman’s request for an upward maintenance variation was dismissed by the Harare Civil Court yesterday.

Rejoice Musungo took her husband, Anesu Njunga, to court demanding an upward variation to US$350 from US$120.

Anesu told the court that he was the one paying school fees and buying stationery for their two children.

“I can’t afford the upward variation, as l am a student and the breadwinner at home since I remarried and have another child.

“I’m just an assistant plant operator and don’t earn much.

“She thinks I’m a millionaire,” he said.

Rejoice said she was a student and a part-time vendor.

“US$120 is not enough as our younger son broke his arm and I was out of budget because there are some medicines which can’t be bought using medical aid.

“He refuses to pay transport money, but he is the one who sent our kids to a school in Mufakose yet I stay in Budiriro.

“I can’t do this anymore, I have to sell things after school and take the kids from school again, it’s too much,” she                                                 said.

Magistrate Sharon Mashavira dismissed her application.
