THE ZIFA Central Region Division One title race has gone to the wire and will be decided tomorrow with Sheasham FC having fate in their hands. The Gweru side, who hold a two-point cushion, will be crowned champions if they beat Dulibadzimu United away in Beitbridge.
They are on 72 points, and nearest rivals WhaWha are on 70 points while third-placed ZPC Munyati are on 69 points.
The log leaders go into the last match day enjoying a superior goal difference of +42 compared to WhaWha’s +39, which might come in handy.
Coach John Nyikadzino’s men will be crowned champions with a win, but can also win promotion with a draw, or even a loss, if WhaWha fail to collect full points against Shabanie Mine.
However, Nyikadzino a veteran of the second-tier league, said nothing had been decided yet.
He won promotion with Chapungu and Nichrut and is aiming for a record third title in the ZIFA Central Region as coach.
“I have been a coach in the Central Region for a very long time now, and I can tell you that it might appear easy but, honestly, it is not,’’ he said.
“The competition in this league is very tight and the boys are working very hard at training to win.
“Dulibadzimu are a good side, which makes the game even more difficult, but I am always telling the boys to be calm and make sure the job is done.
“We have worked very hard, up to this day, and we do not want to crumble on the final day.
“It is unfortunate we are playing away from home, but I am appealing to all our supporters who can make the trip to Beitbridge to come in their numbers and support the team.
“I am hopeful we will not disappoint them.” The ZIFA Central Region Division One is proving to be very competitive and, last year, the race was decided on the last day.
