THREE weeks after a successful show at Horizon Pub and Grill in Bulawayo, dancehall artiste Shinsoman famously known as the Dancehall Faddah put up yet another top performance in the city, now at Club Royal on Friday night.
Baba Divante as he likes to call himself after his first born son, did not disappoint his fans who had thronged the venue to get a glimpse of the hoarse-voiced Mama Divante hit-maker.
He made his way into the venue a few minutes after midnight escorted by rapper and side-kick YOZ and Peter Chiyangwa his manager, clad in a navy blue military jacket and black jeans.
The Ndakupenga hit-maker was welcomed by loud cheers and whistles from his fans who hurriedly moved closer to the stage for a full view of the dancehall artiste.
In response to the grand welcome Shinso opened the show with the track Hustling which he repeated numerous times to the cheering of the crowd.
He later belted more of his hits including Mama Divante which was the crowd’s favourite, Mawayawaya, I Love You Mama, Baby Help, Ndodiwa Manhi, Heavy Msambo, Ndanakirwa, Hatichabatika and Kutambudzika, a song that features self-proclaimed dancehall doctor Freeman.
As usual Shinsoman called his side-kick YOZ Wenyu on stage to perform his two tracks Maduve Wangu and Tasangana Zvidakwa. The two delivered an excellent performance as they were joined by a number of fans on stage.
Speaking after the show Chiyangwa said Shinsoman was grateful for the support he was getting from his Bulawayo fans.
“Just three weeks ago Shinso was in town at Horizon where he was sharing the stage with Merciless. Today we’re at Club Royal where we’ve just seen how Bulawayo people are responding to Shinso’s music.
“Shinso’s fans in Bulawayo are growing very fast more than any other city in Zimbabwe and we can assure you that as long as we’re going to be approached by promoters from here, we’re not going to turn down the show because we’re guaranteed that our audience is there,” said Chiyangwa.
Meanwhile, the Winky D and Jah Prayzah gig which was scheduled for the Large City Hall and later moved to Elite 400 flopped after the two musicians did not turn up, leaving patrons bitter.
The two crowd pullers who were scheduled to perform at the Wedding Expo after-party were set to be backed by Harare DJ’s Legendary Sounds according to the show organiser Akim Sibanda.
Local DJ Nospar became the knight in shining armour after he took to the stage to lay his hands on the decks to comfort the less than 20 patrons who had paid for what was supposed to be the biggest gig of the night in the city.
After the patrons noticed that what had been advertised by the organisers on the posters was not going to happen, they took their anger to the door man who could not handle the pressure and referred all queries to the show organiser who had disappeared and switched off his phone.
Sibanda’s phone was not reachable yesterday.
