TEAM Zimbabwe Arnolds Classic Under-23 representative, Michael Shonhiwa, has signed a contract with sportswear giant Umbro. Shonhiwa becomes the second Under-23 bodybuilding athlete to sign such a contract. The athlete will be one of the 23 locals who will participate in the inaugural Arnold Classic Africa in South Africa from May 27 to 29 in Durban.
The Arnold Classic South Africa is expected to be competitive. National Federation of Zimbabwe Bodybuilding and Fitness spokesperson, Quiet Shangai, said they were happy that Shonhiwa has signed the contract.
“The young man has really worked hard and by getting such recognition it’s a step in the right direction for him. At 23 he has managed to attract such a huge sponsorship.
“We’ve had seniors getting endorsements like Champion Chienderamwano who is under Nutritec, South Africa-based Wiltord Nyaruviro and Botswana-based Gift Sango who are both under USN and Munashe Mutandirotya who was the first Under-23 to sign with Cytotech.”
