Shop owner loses US$2 300 cellphones

A SHOP owner in Penhalonga lost 29 cellphones and accessories worth US$2 360 after unknown suspects broke into his premises overnight and got away with the loot undetected.
Acting Manicaland police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka confirmed the incident, which occurred at Zuva Rabuda Shopping Mall in Muchena.
Assistant Inspector Chinyoka said the complainant, Ernest Muza had secured the premises before leaving for the night.
“On March 23 at around 8pm, Muza locked his shop, ensuring that the windows and doors were properly secured, before proceeding home. On March 24, at around 6am, Muza returned to the shop and found that the windows had been forced open. Upon entering, he discovered that 29 cell phones and cable chargers, which were on display had been stolen,” said Assistant Inspector Chinyoka.
The total value of the stolen property is US$2 360 and nothing has been recovered so far.
Police attended the scene and investigations are now underway.
