The Culture Fund of Zimbabwe Trust yesterday commissioned a sound system worth $23 000 to Zimbabwe Music Rights Association. The sound system will be availed to upcoming musicians to nurture their talent at rehearsals and live shows.
ZIMURA executive director Polisile Ncube hailed Culture Fund for their assistance.
“Culture Fund of Zimbabwe Trust donated the seed money for the purchase of the PA system and I think everyone here knows how important it is to avail seeds. In this case Culture Fund of Zimbabwe is the mother who has given birth to this brand new baby. We would like to thank the Culture Fund of Zimbabwe Trust for their assistance and belief in ZIMURA,” she said. She said that was not the first project they have done with the Culture Fund of Zimbabwe.
“This is not the first project that we have done with the Culture Fund of Zimbabwe Trust and we know it will not be the last as they have assisted us at several workshops that have helped in building capacity of artists,” she added.
Ncube also took the opportunity to launch ZIMURA Sound project that will see several artists benefiting from the sound system.
“The ZIMURA Sound project seeks to do several things among them grooming of new talent as upcoming artists now have a system they can rely on at affordable rates,” she said. She said they were optimistic that they will be able to meet their goals with the assistance of all stakeholders.
Director of Culture Fund Zimbabwe Farai Mupfunya said they were determined to upkeep arts industry in Zimbabwe. “With the help of organisations such as the ZIMURA we are determined to see a better arts industry and we want to encourage the association not to be deterred by anything when doing their work,” he said.
Present at the commissioning were Diana Samkange, Bob Nyabinde, Joyce Simeti, Emmion Sibindi director of Metro Studios and First Farai.
