Show preps start

Exhibitors have started working on their stands as preparations for the 2013 Harare Agricultural Show progress. Yesterday some exhibitors were painting and renovating their stands while others were weeding land around their space. Zimbabwe Agricultural Show Society spokesperson Ms Heather Madombwe said preparations were progressing well with 70 percent of the stands having been booked.

ZAS is charging US$40 per square metre and offering a minimum of nine square metres for a stand. Some exhibitors have been complaining of the high fees being charged by ZAS which they said were prohibitive.

Ms Madombwe said ZAS used to charge a flat fee but this year the charges have been broken down.
“Some of the charges include value added tax, city council fees and in cases where one would want to sell food, blood tests.”

She said this year all those willing to sell food at the show would have to go for blood tests.
The 103rd agricultural show is being held under the theme “Environmentally Entrepreneurial and Educational”.

The show would run from August 23-31 concurrently with the United Nations World Tourism Organisation conference in Victoria Falls.
