Sibanda humbled by honour

REAL Betis Academy Zimbabwe chairman, Gerald Sibanda, says he has been blown away by the decision by authorities in Tanzania to honour him.

Sibanda was this week honoured at the Tanzania Football Summit.

He was recognised by the Zanzibar Football Federation, together with several African football legends, including South Africa’s Doctor Khumalo and Senegalese Khalilou Fadiga.

Former Chelsea and West Ham coach, Avram Grant, also attended the summit and received the honour.

“I was very embraced and honoured by the Zanzibar Football Federation to promote Sports Tourism and Football Development in their region.

“They have an Investment, Sports and Football Development plan, so I’m humbled to be celebrated at the Tanzania Football summit.

“I will push the agenda, together with the household names in our football, Avram Grant, Khalilou Fadiga and Doctor Khumalo, who were also guests, among many great men and women,” he said.

The summit started on June 25 and ran until June 27 at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Zanzibar.
