MIRIAM SIBANDA says she is ready to improve on last year’s third place when she lines up for tomorrow’s Tanganda Half Marathon.
The Mr Pace Athletics Club runner, coached by Collen Makaza, said injury-free training and course familiarity had boosted her confidence.
“I am ready for this race after preparing for the past few weeks. I am well conversant with the terrain, and I hope to do well,” Sibanda said.
“My training has been going well. I have been focusing on improving my speed and strength.
“Last year’s third-place finish gave me more motivation, and this year I am aiming for a better performance.” Sibanda said the Mutare race would also serve as a fitness test ahead of the Victoria Falls Marathon, set for next month.
“The Tanganda Half Marathon helps me test my fitness, endurance and race strategy before the upcoming big event,” she said.
The athlete thanked her coach Makaza and sponsors Global Risk Underwriting Managers, Post Insurance and Zimpost for their support.
Mutare’s hilly course is regarded as a tough test of endurance and strength for athletes.
