Sibenke stars in one-man play

commissioned by Cont Mhlanga, will premiere at Amakhosi Elite 400 in Bulawayo.
The play, which the veteran actor said will be a “make or break” for his career spanning over decades, will also be a tribute to his late colleague Mackey Tickeys who was popularly known to ZBCTV viewing audiences as Sakamuzi.
“I am treating the play as if it’s my last performance. The performance is dedicated to a late colleague of mine Sakamuzi who was the best in so far as stage fighting is concerned,” Sibenke said.
Sibenke said he acknowledged that Sakamuzi was gifted in stage fighting which he effortless showcased in some of his plays.
“I remember one incident when we were acting alongside Sakamuzi and in that play, one of the scenes involved fighting.
“So when we acted out the scene some passers-by had to call the police to try and stop the ‘violence’. There was so much energy and the scene was well acted out,” he jokingly said.
Both Sibenke and the late Sakamuzi worked on a number of outstanding plays and Zimbabwean films.
