AN attempt to save her sister from drowning after a fishing expedition ended tragically on Monday after a 39-year-old woman drowned in a river in Rusape.

Acting Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka, confirmed the death of Laiza and Joyce Changwe of Midway Farm in Rusape.

“Laiza Changwe (39) and Joyce Changwe (28) were fishing when another woman, Elizabeth noticed that Joyce was drowning. She advised Laiza to assist her. Laiza tried in vain to rescue her and she also drowned. Elizabeth reported the matter to police,” he said.
