Sickness could not hold her down

admitted into the Coronary Unit of The Avenues Clinic in Harare last year, Apostole Kanyati – who is also the bishop and founder of Grace Unlimited Ministries International Interdenominational and Zoe Life Changing Ministries Harare – used that time of sickness to write a book.
Aptly titled “Surviving in the Valley – From Trials to Triumphs”, the 208-page book is aimed at fortifying people by reminding them that challenges should not be stumbling blocks but stepping stones in one’s life.
The title of the book is derived from a verse in the Bible, Psalms 23, part of which reads: “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me, your rod and your staff, they comfort me . . . “
Apostole Kanyati says she derived a lot of strength and inspiration from this verse, and found comfort in the assurance that God gives people through the Bible.
In the book, the author reminds people that although medical doctors and nurses may treat you in times of sickness, it is faith in God that is the greatest therapy of them all.
“Sweet as life may be, it has its sour points . . . It is a fact of life that wise people do not buy an umbrella while it is raining. This is done in advance.
“I have gone through many valleys myself and this book was written while I was admitted in the Coronary Unit of The Avenues Clinic,” (pages 7 and 8).
The author reminds her readers that although they may be going through some challenges, which is symbolised by the valley, these problems are meant to shape them.
“Valleys are not to batter you, but to better you, not to worsen you, but to wisen you. Only a fool would go through an experience and still come out the same. Hey valleys are meant to train giants, mould champions, manufacture history makers, usher legacy builders and unleash difference makers.
“I dare you to; not die in winter, summer is coming. Don’t sit in the valley, pass! Don’t stray in the valley, pass! Don’t panic in the valley, pray! Don’t whine in the valley, wait upon the Lord! Don’t fight in the valley, exercise faith.”
It is a book that people who are going through certain challenges in life that they feel they will not overcome will find indispensable.
