Sihlangu not intimidated in Warriors’ den

SWAZILAND believe they have what it takes to stun the Warriors in tomorrow’s Group L Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at the National Sports Stadium.
After watching his team being held to a draw at home by Zimbabwe, thanks to a Njabulo Ndlovu own goal, Sihlangu coach Harris “Madze” Bulunga feels the hosts are there for the taking.
Bulunga, in his post match interview on Good Friday, said his team had paid dearly for failing to convert the several chances they created. “We could have buried the tie. We opted for an offensive approach in order to get the maximum points since we were playing at home,” Bulunga was quoted as saying by Swazi Observer yesterday.
One of Sihlangu’s star players Mthunzi Mkhotfo, who turns out for DRC soccer giants AS Vita, is also beaming with confidence ahead of tomorrow’s tie.
The winger reckons Swaziland just need to score a goal in order to maintain the top spot in Group L. “The game was tough but we managed to salvage a point which is key in the qualifiers. We now need to go for a kill and make sure we score in the return leg on Monday (tomorrow),” Mkhofto was quoted as saying soon after the game on Good Friday.
Sihlangu controlled the second half but failed to make use of a number of good chances that came their way.
They could have scored a late winner, in the 89th minute, but a powerful shot by Mbabane Highlanders striker Xolani Sibandze from outside the box was saved by the brilliant Tatenda Mukuruva.
The Swazi’s are also mourning about a late penalty appeal that was triggered by Sabelo “Sikhali” Ndzinisa’s tumble inside the box.
