Sikhala arrested

on allegations of kidnapping two people from Chiadzwa to Harare last week.
Sikhala was arrested in St Mary’s and was yesterday still in custody.
Chief police spokesperson Senior Assistant Commissioner Wayne Bvudzijena said Sikhala was likely to face two more charges of entering a protected area (Chiadzwa) and illegally dealing in diamonds.
“He is likely to appear in court in Mutare tomorrow (today) and he is still in custody in St Mary’s,” he said.
He said Sikhala went to Chiadzwa were he gave about US$2 700 to the two men he later kidnapped so that they would look for diamonds.
“Sikhala then forcibly took the two to Harare from Chiadzwa and a report was then made to the police leading to his arrest,” said Snr Asst Comm Bvudzijena.
The details of the case were by yesterday still sketchy, but investigations are still in progress. – CR.
