Chegutu Pirates 1-2 Simba Bhora
SIMBA Bhora striker Tymon Machope let loose a cracker in the second-half to help the visitors subdue a fighting Chegutu Pirates in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League game at Baobab yesterday.
In this evenly-balanced duel, Simba Bhora took an early lead from a goalmouth melee when the Pirates goalkeeper failed to handle a cross and an unattended Perfect Chikwende easily tapped the ball into the net.
In-form Pirates striker Cleopas Dube grabbed his first goal of the season when he levelled the score with a header in the 40th minute.
Both sides returned from the breather, purposeful with play swinging from end-to-end.
Fans were regularly jerked from their seats as strikers were continuously supplied with good scoring opportunities.
Chegutu Pirates veteran Simbarashe Domingo combined well with Cleopas Dube, but lady luck was not on their side.
On the other side, Simba utilised their attacking wingers and it paid dividends when Machope picked a loose ball just outside the centre circle and darted towards goal before unleashing a stinger that nestled in the roof net.
Simba Bhora coach Tonderayi Ndiraya punched the air in celebration as the goal was crucial in helping him secure his job.
Reports had it that Simba Bhora director, Simba “Buju” Ndoro, was of late not amused with his team’s performance and had threatened to terminate Ndiraya’s contract had they lost to Pirates.
