SIMBA Bhora midfielder Vassili Kawe is hoping for a strong second half of the season by the ambitious Shamva outfit, who have set their sights on the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League championship title.
The local league was on a two-week break and is set to resume this weekend, with matches set for Saturday and Sunday.
Kawe expressed his optimism and belief in their squad to get the job done in the second half of the season and felt they could only achieve that by improving their form in away games.
“I hope the team registers more wins in the second half, especially away games.
“We are on track and slowly catching up with our expectations as a team.
“The idea is to turn the club into a giant by winning as many games as possible that will see us in contention for the championship.
“And I am confident enough that we are slowly getting there,” he said.
Simba Bhora went on massive talent acquisition at the start of the year as they shifted their focus on challenging for honours.
Kawe says that alone is an inspiration and accords him the opportunity to learn a lot from his teammates but believes the love from the fans is extraordinary.
“There is a lot of talent at the club and it inspires me a lot being around every one of them, it pushes me to grow as a player as I have an opportunity to learn from them.
“The love and affection we receive from the fans make me feel valued, energised and supported as well, as we strive for excellence.
“It also sums up the fact that the fans also value our efforts to entertain them and our hard work.”
Simba Bhora will be looking forward to having a strong finish as they want to cement their status on the local scene as an emerging powerhouse.
Their quest for success will face strong resistance starting on Saturday when they host Manica Diamonds at Wadzanayi.
Simba Bhora are just five points behind log leaders FC Platinum, who are on 35 points.
They are in fourth place courtesy of an inferior goal difference to third-placed Ngezi Platinum Stars.
Manica Diamonds are in second position with 32 points.
“For us, this is a must-win match and we are so eager to face the challenge and walk out victorious.
“As a team, I feel we are prepared physically and mentally.
“I trust in our team’s resilience and I see us having a positive result,” said Kawe.
