Businessman Sir Wicknell Chivayo has upgraded the reward he recently awarded renowned diver and rescuer, Coach Rambo, who won the hearts of many Zimbabweans after retrieving three bodies from a sewage-filled pit in Budiriro, Harare.

Coach Rambo, whose real name is Victor Kazembe, was initially gifted a Toyota Aqua in recognition of his bravery following the tragic Budiriro incident that claimed three lives.

However, Sir Wicknell announced on Wednesday that he had decided to further reward the rescuer after being touched by his gratitude and the overwhelming support he received from friends and fellow bikers when he collected the vehicle.

In a social media post, Sir Wicknell said Coach Rambo’s appreciation for the gift demonstrated humility and gratitude, qualities he believes attract greater blessings.

He directed Coach Rambo to return to collect a brand-new Toyota Fortuner GD6 2.4D and an additional US$5 000 for fuel.

The businessman also revealed that the Toyota Aqua would now be transferred to Coach Rambo’s wife, who will also receive US$5 000 in cash.

Sir Wicknell further extended his generosity to 49 bikers who accompanied Coach Rambo when he collected the initial vehicle, saying each of them would receive US$1 000.

The latest gesture comes after Coach Rambo was hailed a hero for risking his life to retrieve three bodies from a sewage pond in Budiriro earlier this month.

The operation, conducted under hazardous conditions, drew national attention, with many Zimbabweans commending the veteran diver for his courage and commitment to helping bereaved families recover the remains of their loved ones.

Coach Rambo, who has participated in numerous rescue and recovery missions over the years, described the Budiriro operation as one of the most difficult assignments of his career.

His efforts earned praise from members of the public, civic organisations and business leaders, with Sir Wicknell becoming one of the first prominent figures to publicly reward him for his bravery.

The latest upgrade means Coach Rambo’s acts of heroism have now earned him a new Toyota Fortuner, while his wife becomes a vehicle owner through the gifted Toyota Aqua.
