Six artisanal miners arrested for fatal assault on colleague in Mazowe; two suspects still at large

Six artisanal miners have been arrested in Mazowe on allegations of fatally assaulting a colleague following an undisclosed argument over the weekend.

The victim, Edmore Ndlovu (30), died after being attacked with knives, logs, empty beer bottles and stones.

In a statement, national police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said police in Mazowe arrested Massive Tshabangu (23), Khathilile Moyo (22), Sengezo Sikongosana (19), Benard Ndlovu (22), Khangelani Ndlovu (25) and Prosper Mlilo (24) in connection with a case of murder which occurred at Masoja Tuck Shops, Gabeni Mine, Surtic Farm on September 20, 2025.

“The suspects, who are artisanal miners, took turns to attack the victim, Edmore Ndlovu (30), to death with knives, logs, empty beer bottles and stones for unknown reasons. The other two suspects, Mengezi Ndlovu and Last Ndlovu are on the run,” said Commissioner Nyathi.
