SIX people died and five others were injured when a haulage truck failed to negotiate a curve and ran over them.
National police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, said the accident happened at the 36km peg along the Harare- Mukumbura Road.
“A haulage truck, with four passengers on board, failed to negotiate a curve, veered off the road and ran over six pedestrians before overturning and landing on its roof.
“Four pedestrians and two passengers died on the spot, while five others, including the driver, were injured,” he said.
Meanwhile, police in Harare arrested Barbra Vimbai Chitisuro, in connection with the theft of a motor vehicle in the capital, after allegedly selling a Honda Fit vehicle (AFS 4457), which she had hired from a car rental company located at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport.
“The suspect had hired the car for a week and used a fake vehicle registration book to sell the car for US$4 000 to a Harare car dealer.
“Police have since recovered the vehicle, which was on display at the car dealer’s garage,” Ass Comm Nyathi said.
