SIX GOALS, TWO GAMES BUT WE’VE NO WINNER

Highlanders………………………………….……..(1) 1

Dynamos…………………………………….……..(0) 1

SIX goals in two titanic battles but NO winner at the end of 180 minutes of action spread across Harare and Bulawayo.

That is story of the Battle of Zimbabwe this year.

Highlanders and Dynamos, for the second time this season, shared the spoils in their Castle Lager Premiership battles.

The first showdown at Rufaro produced four goals and failed to provide a winner.

The second one at Barbourfields yesterday produced two goals, either side of half-time, and again could not produce a winner before a big and colourful crowd. History will record that Bosso did not lose to their biggest rivals, in the year that the country’s oldest football club are celebrating their 100th year of existence.

It will also record that when Bosso hosted the Glamour Boys, in their Centenary year, the two men who scored the goals were both foreign forwards, drawn from West Africa.

For Highlanders it was their Nigerian forward, Benjamin Adeogun, who thrust them into the lead on the fringes of half-time, when he converted a penalty in the 41st minute.

Then, nine minutes after the break, it was the turn of Dynamos’ in-form Ghanaian forward, Frank Agyemang, to grab the equaliser.

It was his ninth goal of what is proving to be a successful season for the talented forward.

He has become the go-to-man for DeMbare, when they need a goal, in recent weeks, and he has delivered for his team.

The point picked on the road means the Glamour Boys are now 10 points behind leaders Scottland, even though they have played a game less, as they await the verdict of their match against Hardrock, which was abandoned at Chahwanda amid mayhem.

The PSL revealed last week that they expect the decision of that abandoned game to be revealed this week.

Hardrock are in the championship race and appear to be the one with the capacity to spoil the party for Scottland, who are looking for their second straight title.

The Kwekwe side, who were beaten by the leaders 0-2 the last time they were in action, returned to the home comforts of Chahwanda to crush ZPC Kariba 4-0 and move back into second place on the table.

Given that the visitors are one of the best defensive sides in the league, this was as brilliant, a goal-scoring show for Hardrock, as they come in the league.

Soccer Star of the Year Washington Navaya scored twice, in the second half, to help power Hardrock to their emphatic victory.

Midfielder Donald Mudadi thrust the hosts into the lead just before the break before Nelisa Tiger Dlamini scored a contender or the Goal of the Season with his long-range strike.

Dlamini’s goal ensured that it was a very good weekend for the foreign contingent of the PSL.

Hardrock and now five points adrift of the Scotts, with a game in hand which will be decided in the boardroom.

Coachless Triangle are hopeless, right now.

And, another home defeat, in which they lost 1-2 to Chicken Inn, means that they remain stuck in relegation trouble.

Manica Diamonds are fighting but their 1-1 draw against FC Platinum will feel like these are two points they dropped at home.

Their next assignment is an away test against the champions in Harare.
