Six-man-gang rampage through Chegutu, attacking villagers with knives and catapults

POLICE have arrested six men for allegedly attacking villagers with Columbia knives and catapults, damaging property.

In a statement, police said they arrested the gang following the attack on 12 February 2024.

The other suspects were arrested the following day after Tavirimirwa was caught at Laforte Shops in Chegutu.

“Police in Chegutu have arrested Kelvin Reward Makoni (30), Patrick Mlanzi (19), Moses Bhobho (19), Peace Mapako, and Taona Mudavanhu (18) in connection with a case of attempted murder and malicious property damage which occurred on 13/02/2024 at Larfote Shops. The suspects attacked villagers with Columbia knives and catapults following the arrest of Tafadzwa Tavirimirwa (20). Tavirimirwa was apprehended whilst striking a male juvenile (17) with a machete at Laforte Shops on 12/02/24,” reads the statement.
