Six more people have succumbed to Covid-19

SIX more people have succumbed to Covid-19 in Zimbabwe bringing the cumulative total to 202 deaths since the outbreak of the pandemic.

The six deaths were recorded in Bulawayo, Matabeleland South and Midlands provinces in the last 24 hours.

According to the Ministry of Health and Child Care, 85 new cases were also recorded yesterday.

“As of August 31, 2020 Zimbabwe had recorded 6 497 cases, 202 deaths and 5 221 recoveries. Only 85 new cases and six deaths were reported in the last 24 hours,” read the statement.

“Of the six deaths, three were recorded in Bulawayo, two in Matabeleland South and one in Midlands province. The 85 new cases include 46 recorded in Matabeleland South, 17 in Mashonaland West, two recorded in Bulawayo, nine in Harare, five in Masvingo and four in Midlands.”

The Ministry added that the national recovery rate stands at 80.3 percent while positivity rate for the last 24 hours stands at 10 percent.

Bulawayo now has a total of 1 276 confirmed cases, 35 deaths with 1 140 recoveries while Matabeleland South has a total of 684 cases, six deaths and 489 recoveries.

Matabeleland North has 114 cases, three deaths. and 89 recoveries.
