THE big stage, for the 60th edition of the Chibuku Neshamwari Dance Festival, is set for this Saturday and organisers have roped in top entertainers for the after party.
Jah Prayzah, Nutty O and Selmor Mtukudzi have the honours to entertain fans at the traditional dance fete slated for Harare Gardens.
The inclusion of the trio has already raised appeal among their legion of fans who can’t wait to see them perform at the event, which is free of charge.
Ten groups, from across the country, have made it to the prestigious finals where the winner will take home the US$15 000 grand prize.
The runners-up will get US$10 000 and US$7 500 respectively.
Dubbed “Bira Remadhanzi, 60 Years Sithokhozisa Ngezomgido!”, this year’s event is special as Chibuku also marks 60 years of running the competition.
“We are ready for the finals and we are promising a well organised event.
“All the best to all the participants,” said Zimbabwe National Traditional Dance Association president Kennedy Kachuruka.
The event is bankrolled by Delta Beverages, in partnership with the Zimbabwe National Traditional Dance Association.
Over the years, the festival has grown to be a platform for showcasing rich cultural heritage from across the ethnic divide.
Dances to look forward to at the showcase include Muchongoyo, Mbakumba, Jerusarema, Chihodha, Gule/Nyau and Amahiza dances, among others.
