After months of building anticipation, Zimbabwe’s much-awaited feature film Sizolobola is finally set to make its grand debut in Harare on July 4, in what promises to be a landmark occasion for the country’s creative industry.

The film becomes the platform’s flagship title, signalling a new era for local storytellers seeking wider international reach.

Produced by AFRICIN, Sizolobola explores the complexities of love, family and tradition through the journey of Njabulo and Makatendeka, a young couple from Ndebele and Shona backgrounds.

Their dream of building a life together is put to the test as cultural expectations surrounding lobola threaten to pull them apart. Through a blend of humour, emotion and relatable family dynamics, the production celebrates Zimbabwe’s rich cultural diversity while promoting unity and mutual understanding.

The film boasts a stellar cast that includes popular comedian and actress Madam Boss, veteran actress Jesesi Mungoshi, Exult Ncube, Madlela Sikhobokhobo and several other household names, reflecting the growing investment in high-quality local productions.

With Sizolobola opening the curtain for the new streaming service, expectations are high that the production will set the standard for future releases.
