Viriri, a founder member of the boy band – Slice International – has set up a music promotion company called Piece of Africa together with Tendai Moyona and Amos Zvandasara who are all based in Toronto, Canada.
Piece of Africa is a registered musical promotional company in Canada whose objective is to promote African music to the west and pave way for new artistes in the urban grooves genre, dancehall and hip-hop from Zimbabwe to world stage.
Viriri, affectionately known by his fans as Slicey T, said the company has to date promoted South African DJ Cleo in November 2010 and Winky D in May this year.
Slicey T said plans are underway to promote another South African kwaito artiste – Bojo Mujo – Slice International, Stunner, ExQ and Roki to Canada.
“As POA we are also working on bringing artistes from United States and Jamaica to Zimbabwe,” he said.
Slicey T, said as one of the urban grooves pioneers in Zimbabwe, he felt obliged to do more to his fellow countrymen.
“I still feel there is a lot to be done in the entertainment industry from music production to management,” he said.
Having completed studies in music management and engineering, Slicey T said, he learnt a lot and would want to nurture and shape the future of upcoming artistes.
