The 103rd edition of the Harare Agricultural Show has seen an increase in the participation of small-to-medium enterprises as they seek to extend their contribution to the nation’s economic growth. Some SMEs exhibitors who spoke to The Herald expressed confidence of increased business transactions and opportunities to market their products during the course of exhibition.
Mr Phillip Zengeya the managing director of Moushtec Steel & Fireplaces, which deals in steel products, said that they were expecting increased business during the exhibition.
“Business is a little slow during these premature days of the exhibition but, we are expecting an increase as the days go by.
“We are hoping that business will improve when more people start to come in,” he said.
Zimbabwe Agricultural Society public relations officer Ms Heather Madombwe said that they had recorded an increase from the 700 companies that exhibit every year.
“Every year we witness an increase in SMEs and we are really proud of them.
“This is a clear indication that people are realising that they can be their own entities in business and we are looking forward to more SMEs coming and get exposure,” she said.
