The SMEs Expo ends on Saturday.
In an interview, the Permanent Secretary for Small to Medium Scale Enterprises and Co-operative Development, Mrs Eveline Ndlovu, said entrepreneurs would use the expo to share ideas to grow their business.
She said the expo would create a forum for networking among the participants as they shared ideas on ways to create and sustain their business enterprises.
“The four-day expo will create networking opportunities for the enterprises so as to establish export markets for their goods.
“The expo is a promotional strategy to come up with export markets for small and growing businesses,” she said.
Mrs Ndlovu said the country’s economy was market-based and the expo would also act as a market exhibition for locally manufactured products.
Event organiser Mrs Blessing Mugenga said preparations for the event were on course, with numerous entrepreneurs showing interest in attending.
“We are happy with the response we are getting from stakeholders, the expo gives entrepreneurs the chance to showcase high quality Zimbabwean products available for export,” said Mrs Mugenga.
She said the expo would give entrepreneurs the opportunity to discuss critical issues hindering the development of small to medium enterprises.
“Through the expo we seek to point out the challenges faced by emerging entrepreneurs. These problems include a shortage of working space and lack of working capital.
“We want to engage and establish trading ties with foreign stakeholders in attendance during the expo,” said Mrs Mugenga.
She said through collectively finding solutions to problems challenging SMEs, the sector could drive growth and development of the country’s economy.
