Smith lifts trophy

Last year Follet-Smith shared the podium with Mathew Ncube for the title but the experience he got from an outing late last year saw him emerge victorious.

Rounds of 71, 68, 72 and 72 were enough to earn the player a well deserved win which saw him begin the order of merit campaign on a high note.

Follet-Smith missed to a chance to represent the country in the Eisenhower World Amateur Golf Championships by a whisker last year but managed to win the ticket for the Junior World Golf Championships where he did fairly well coming out 19th.

The former Wingate member has since reverted to Royal Harare from the beginning of this season.
Clive Nguru who was expected to replace Scott Vincent as the top amateur did not disappoint as he was second.

The former Falcon member had rounds of 68, 71, 75 and 70 to emerge the runner-up in a competitive field.

Nicholas Masunga was third while Grant Hudson came fourth and Christian Mbanga and Thembelani Vundhla completed the top five.

The Dugmore Trophy also had some team events and it was Chapman who won it this year.
The Chapman team comprising of Nguru, Pride Sembo, Vundla and Mbanga won the event snatiching the title from previous holders Bulawayo Golf Club.
