Snoop Lion’s documentary to hit theatres this March

the announcement regarding the movie’s release date last Thursday. The film will also debut across theatres in the United Kingdom on March 22. No announcement was made regarding if and when the movie will make its way to Jamaican theatres.

Snoopadelic Films in collaboration with VICE Films shot the long-awaited feature film last year during Snoop’s trip to Jamaica. It recalls the captivating and somewhat eccentric journey of an artiste who went from a gangster rap icon into a reggae crooner while trying to understand the nuances of the island’s culture, music and people.

Directed by prominent American director and Vice Magazine global editor, Andy Capper, “Reincarnated” shows Snoop’s visit to Bob Marley’s stomping grounds of Trench Town as well as his visit to a Rastafarian temple, where Nyabinghi priests christened him with the “Lion” name as a way of encouraging maturity from his Snoop Dogg moniker.

The film debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival last September, with many critics praised as it chronicled Snoop’s “spiritual reincarnation”.

The “Reincarnated” film is part of a major multimedia project by Snoop Lion, as it includes an all-reggae album under the same name, featuring production from award-winning American hit makers, Major Lazer.

The album features singles such as “La La La” and “Lighters Up”, featuring dancehall megastars, Popcaan and Mavado. – The EXaminer.
