Soap costs man’s life

A Headlands man was fatally assaulted by two men who were accusing him of stealing soap.

Mathias Mugweni (41) and Jonathan (whose surname was not established) allegedly fatally assaulted Honest Mukwena (40), accusing him of stealing a bar of washing soap and a tablet of bathing soap.

The incident occurred in Fairfield, Headlands.

The two confronted the Mukwena over the issue and proceeded to Village 26b, Fairfield, to recover the soap.

Along the way, they assaulted Mukwena and left him along the footpath.

Mukwena succumbed to the injuries he sustained during the assault and his body was later discovered by a villager, Anyway Dzamwarira, who went on to report the matter to the police.

 

Mugweni was arrested, while Jonathan is at large.
