Sobukazi athlete in Africa Youth Championships 100m final

SOBUKAZI High School’s rise in stock as a sports excellence school in Bulawayo got a positive nod when on Thursday athlete Methembe Tshuma clocked 10.58 seconds to reach the final of the African Youth Championships in Nigeria.

He finished third in his heat and qualified for the final for later on the day.
Sobukazi headmaster, Cain Ncube who is driving sport renaissance at the institution said he was happy that Tshuma had put the school on the map.
“We are proud of Methembe and we wish him better success in the final,” said Ncube of his Fourth Form pupil.

Zimbabwe sent a boys and girls team to take part in both the Youth and Junior Championships.
Meanwhile on Wednesday night Ashley Miller broke the 400m record setting a new time of 55.03 seconds in the US.
