Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram are certainly the best platforms to a fast growing business. Some social media influencers are using the platforms to get some extra cash into their pockets.
Brian Mukwena makes money through selling links to WhatsApp business groups. He provides group links to traders who would like to reach their customers through WhatsApp at affordable prices.
“I understand that people are selling a lot of stuff online so all I do is I provide people with group links in exchange for money. Its $3 for 350 links,” said Mukwena.
Mukwena is one of many who have commercialised platforms that have been meant for fun and nothing serious in particular.
Shadaya, known for his huge following on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram for his funny memes is yet another maestro making money by merely sharing a picture that will bring laughter on faces of his viewers.
Shadaya has grown his following on social media and is now an advertiser for small businesses and other companies.
“When I started this it was just to make people laugh but when my following grew very big I noticed I could make money out of it and now I am advertising businesses on my platforms and I get money out of it,” he said.
Another Instagram sensation known as Vinette says all he does is create an account then grows it to at least 20 000 followers then after that sell the account to a “slay queen”.
“I sell Instagram accounts. All I do is to grow it to a certain following then sell it, the usual price is $50 and I know that slay queens who are hungry for fame are always willing to buy them,” said Vinette.
Some users who have managed to attract a huge following on their accounts make people pay just to be tagged on pictures or even to be posted on those accounts. These refer to themselves as account promoters and believe if one is posted on their page and their account tagged their followers would be tempted to follow the featured person.
