Two taxi drivers and a soldier appeared in court on Saturday on an armed robbery charge.

Douglas Chipindu, soldier Robert Gande and taxi drivers, Leeroy Chidaura and Russel Samukange, appeared before regional magistrate Taurai Manuwere on Saturday.

The court heard that on January 19 at around 6.30pm, Kevin Yobe of Mt Pleasant was at the intersection of Pershorise Road and Harare Drive intending to hike to Mazowe.

The four-man gang offered him a lift to Marlborough Police Station so that he could connect to Mazowe.

Yobe boarded the car and after about five minutes, the four men told him that he had boarded a car with armed robbers.

One of the robbers sitting in the front passenger seat produced a pistol and threatened to shoot Yobe.

They searched him and stole US$50, a cellphone and smart watch.

They later dumped him near the University of Zimbabwe and drove off.
