A HARARE woman went to court demanding US$150 in child maintenance from her ex-husband.
Vimbai Kandiro said her ex-husband, Dereck Muza, owns a boutique and therefore can’t fail to pay US$150 maintenance for his six-year-old daughter.
“I want my former husband to pay US$150 for his child. He has a boutique and on top of that he is a government employee, so he should be able to cater for his son.
“Before we divorced, he used to earn US$1 000 profit per month from his boutique. I was once a manager at that boutique.
“He now has another wife with two children who are below 18 years,” said Kandiro
In response, Muza offered US$30, saying he doesn’t have money these days.
“Your Worship, I don’t have a boutique, my boss owns it. Vimbai is lying that I am a government employee, ndirikutokandawo ma CV kuti ndiwane basa chairo,” he said.
Magistrate Ayanda Dhlamini told Muza to pay US$80 with the effect from the end of March.
