Some passengers rescued after RIDA boat capsizes on Lake Kariba

SOME passengers have been rescued after a Rural Infrastructure Development Agency (RIDA) boat carrying 90 passengers and five crew members capsized on Lake Kariba on Tuesday.

According to updates coming from Maxton Kanhema on the ground some people were rescued as efforts continue.

The development comes as rescue efforts continue, with police yet to confirm the number of people who may have died in the incident.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) had earlier confirmed that the boat, carrying a total of 95 people, had capsized and said rescue operations were underway.

The number of people rescued, as well as the number of confirmed deaths, remains unclear.
