Son accuses mom of witchcraft

A HARARE man has riled his mother after he accused her of bewitching his children.

James Chipunda is said to be in the habit of threatening to kill his mother, Rosey Chipunda.

Rosey has since approached the Harare Civil Court seeking a protection order against James.

“I pray that James gets evicted from my place of residence as he is violent towards me.

“He insults and assaults me.  At one point,  he threatened to stab me with a knife.

“He also accused me of bewitching my grandchildren, as he calls me a witch, after everything I did for him to be where he is today,” said Rosey.

In response, James said:

“When my children got sick, my wife took them to an apostolic shrine where they were told that my mother was behind my kids’ illness.

“She was also accused of practicing witchcraft.

“I have always argued  but I have never threatened to kill her since I am also afraid of avenging spirits.”

Magistrate Sharon Mashavire, who presided over the matter, granted the protection order in Rosey’s favour.
